Happy February! We have lots of exciting things coming up this month, including Science Expo, 2 in house Science Is Fun field trips, an d Valentines Day.
We kicked off our poetry unit this week learning all about figurative language, including similes, metaphors, and idioms. We also learned how to analyze the structure, rhyme pattern, and meaning in poems. Next week we will continue to dig deep into analyzing meaning. To celebrate Black History month, the books and poems we have been reading have been by black authors and poets, such as Langston Hughes, Shel Silverstein, and Maya Angelou. We have also learned about the poets themselves.
In math, we finished geometry this week. Students explored attributes of quadrilaterals, classifying quadrilaterals, and the names of other polygons. They took the NC check in on Friday. We will begin our next unit on area and perimeter next week.
Students worked hard this week on their Entrepreneur projects in social studies. They chose a product or service to sell and created advertisements, business plans, and profit projections. They did a great job! Next week we will start a new science unit all about forces and motion. Thank you to all those who donated items to make science hands-on and fun!
