Spring is in the air and we have been enjoying the warm weather. We had a wonderful time on our field trip to Laurel Hills Park. I will Tweet out some pictures soon! We also got to collaborate with Ms. Minnick's 5th grade class to learn about matter in science.
In ELA, we read more of Peter Pan. We focused on analyzing a character's thoughts, actions, and words to determine what character traits each character possesses. We role played different characters to analyze their perspective on the flight to Neverland. Next week we will continue to analyze perspective, point of view, and character traits. We are also close to learning all of our lowercase and uppercase cursive letters! We will hopefully finish up next week and continue practicing.
We wrapped up area and perimeter early this week-students did an amazing job on their end of unit assessment! We began our new unit on fractions, learning what fractions are, the parts of a fraction, and unit fractions. Next week we will continue to explore naming fractions and representing them visually. We are also beginning to spiral back to concepts learned earlier in the year to keep those skills fresh.
We explored gravity and friction this week in science. We learned that the more gravity acts on an object, the faster/further it will go. We also learned that friction can affect speed, but has positive uses too, like tires and brakes. We will wrap up this unit early next week and then move on to Space and the Universe!
